The raw materials used in our mineral dyeing are taken from this volcanic cluster covering an area of 260 square kilometers. There are more than 30 volcanoes in this volcanic field. The eruptions began 26,000 years ago. The most recent eruption occurred approximately 6,000 years ago. Since then it has sat in silence.

Volcanic activity permanently changed the appearance of this land. Ancient riverbeds covered with sedimentary rocks were pushed up by volcanic movement to form hills. Cracks appeared on the ground, and magma accumulated into mountains. When we visited the field, a layer of sandy soil had already formed on the volcanic rocks, and many tough weeds had grown out of this sandy layer. The ancient changes and movements have long since become still.
